The Terminal del Norte in Medellín, whose construction began in 1970, emerged as a response to the growing needs of interprovincial transportation in the city. This terminal became an important departure and arrival hub to the main cities of the country when it was inaugurated in 1983 under the name Terminal de Transportes Mariano Ospina López.
